Indeed, there are many British rock bands to watch live concerts from. What’s your favorite band then? If it is Coldplay, you have come to the right place.

What’s so popular about this band lately is about the new tour called A Head Full of Dreams Tour.

Its pre-tour promotional shows have been done from September 2015 to February 2016 in Las Vegas, NYC New York, and Los Angeles in the United States; London in England; Offenbach in Germany; Paris in France; and Santa Clara in the US again in order.

The real Coldplay tour will soon to start this very year too. Be ready for it.

The Early Years of Coldplay Band

Before we talk about the new Coldplay tour that will soon to come, let’s talk some more about the band first here.

What do you think of its early years? This band’s history started from the meeting between Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland as new students at University College London in 1996.

Both of them than planned to form a band by the name Pectoralz. Soon, their classmate named Guy Berryman joined the band.

In 1997, the band name was changed to Starfish, and they performed gigs at small clubs. Phil Harvey was then recruited as the band’s manager.

With Will Champion joining them, this band was completed. Then, they decided to settle on the name “Coldplay” for the band after being suggested, Tim Crompton.

  • In 1997, Tim Rice-Oxley was asked to join the band, but he refused because his band was already active.
  • In 1998, Coldplay released 500 copies of the Safety EP. In December, it signed to Fierce Panda and released Brothers and Sisters EP.
  • In 1999, it signed the five-album contract with Parlophone. Coldplay then made its appearance at Glastonbury and soon record the third EP entitled The Blue Room right after that.

The Band Members of Coldplay Band

From the discussion above, you should have been able to guess yourself that Coldplay is a rock band of 4 members.

We have known some names there. However, have you known what each of them acts as? In 1996, the band only consisted of Chris Martin as the pianist and Jonny Buckland as the lead guitarist.

Then, Guy Berryman performed as the bassist. Will Champion, who took the percussionist position at first, became the drummer and backing vocalist due to him being the fast learner to drums.

This is what each of them acted as in the early years of their band.

Now, each of them has more than just one or two duties they are in charge of.

Christ Martin

He has now become the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, acoustic guitarist, and keyboardist, besides being a pianist.

Jonny Buckland

He takes the position of backing vocals, acoustic guitar, keyboard, and harmonica, besides formerly being the lead guitarist.

Guy Berryman

He takes the position of backing vocals, keyboard, harmonica, and percussion, besides being the bass guitarist to begin with.

Will Champion
